Hello!

My name is Kate, and I'm currently a freshmen at Skidmore College. I'm enrolled in history, art, and not one but two enviormental classes. Can Literature Save the Enviorment? is my first-year Scribner Seminar, but my other enviormental class is called Enviormental Concerns in Perspective. Each of them focus on past, current, and future enviormental issues, but they are quite different in thier approach to presenting and exploring these topics. That being said I'm finding both to be equally illumating and challenging.

In addition to my classes, I'm exploring getting involved enviormentally in the Skidmore community as well. Having signed up for EAC which is Skidmore's student run Enviormental Club, I'm continually being presented with opportunites to do things like work in Skidmore's organic garden, and figure out ways to make the campus a greener, healthier place. It's a new experience for me, and extremely exciting.

I grew up in the small town of Concord–home of the very famous Thoreau, Emerson and Alcott!–right outside of Boston with lovely parents, a twin brother, and a dog. In addition to my passion for the enviorment I love to paint, read, and write. I'm interested in history, fine arts and english, and will probably end up pursuing at least one of those during my time in college.

I'm so excited to be a part of Skidmore's wonderful community, and I hope in the years to come that I can not only explore what I'm interested in but develop new passions and a greater sense of who I am.

My name is Olivia Dynan and I am from Brookline, Massachusetts. I graduated from Beaver Country Day Schoo land I am currently a freshmen at Skidmore College.  I am an advocate for The Food Project, a non-profit that provides teens with oppurtunities to learn how to farm, work in farmers markets, CSA's, hunger relief organizations, and participate in social action workshops. Since working on a farm since the summer '10, I have become passionate about sustainable agriculture and providing communities with access to fresh affordable produce. In my free time, I enjoy hanging with friends and playing pick-up soccer. At Skidmore, I would like to major in environmental studies and join the student run garden. For my community based project I will be working with my classmate, Kate Holm to interview Karen Totino, owner of Green Conscience. We will have a chance to interview Karen and explore all aspects of how environmental concers are incorporated in a bussiness.
