Please write a 5-7 page essay, double-spaced (12-point font, Times New Roman), that answers the following questions:

You are the newly appointed national security advisor to the president of ________ (country of your choice). This president wants you to help the government draft a new national security strategy. Write a persuasive paper for the president answering the following questions:

• What are the causes of insecurity in the international arena?
• What can a state do to achieve security and peace?
• Should the president increase funding for the nation's military?
• Should the president pursue a policy of joining and playing an active role in international organizations?
• In answering these questions, discuss which school of thought provides the most convincing perspective on international politics and why?

Write one 5-7 page essay that answers all the questions above. Your paper must have a central thesis/argument, which should be clearly stated in your first paragraph. The rest of the paper should develop and defend your main argument.

External research is not required for this paper. You should draw on the course readings and lectures, and avoid lengthy quotations. Please be sure to cite all your sources.
