Margo Olson has a BA in biology and was an Interpretive Ranger for the National Park Service in Grand Canyon and Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks for a number of years. She also has worked as director of education at the Children's Museum of Science and Technology in Troy. She was appointed executive director of the Wilton Wildlife Preserve and Park in October of 2010.

In our interview with Ms. Olson, we talked a lot about literature. We asked her if she ever felt literature had affirmed something for her in regards to the environment. She named a few, but mostly thought that movies had really been what could change her beliefs, and inspire action within people. When we told her of our readings for this course we were surprised when she explained that she "finds that whole John Muir thing...[to be] too much... I guess I'm just much more of a science-y person than the philosophical person, so all of that...rhapsodising about this and that and the other thing doesn't do as much for me as to why the things are the way they are." She added that she is more partial to scientific, particularly geological, writings rather than flowery language and description.
